The scope

To develop a search function and a place for volunteers and organisations to meet. Alla activity on the site is carefully measured and can be displayed graphically in excell. The website is build in Yeti CMS add has several customized features such as color coding for different sections of the site.

The challenge

One major difficulty of this project was to make this very complicated search function very easy to use for the end user. Another challenge was to comply with Volontärbyråns strict demands on design & colorcoding throughout the webpage.

But the biggest challenge was the statistical solution. All volunteer jobs and volunteer data is recorded in the database. To make this really easy to handle we have developed an excell plugin where you can load the important data directly into Excel where we have precreated 30 different graphs which can be sorted and modified using  the power of Excels native functions. 

"A memorable day in this project was when Ramesh & Dipendra developed an Excel formula of 22.000 characters (more than 10 pages) and we discovered that Excel can not handle formulas with more than 8192 characters.
After some optimization it is now reduced to less than 1.000 characters and works nicely though."

Tech Stuffs

The website is developed in Dot.Net 3.5 and SQL server 2005 using Yeti CMS. Statistics is done using SQL Server 2005, C# and a custom Excel plugin.
