The scope
To make language training inside and out of the classroom fun and interactive in a new webapplication.
The challenge
To develop a video streaming platform where the user can not only watch, but really interact with the videos. While a video is playing important words that you need to know to understand the video is displayed at the side.
We have also developed a system where you can create and connect questions, and tasks to each video clip.
Even more interaction happends in the studio where the user can play a movie clip, then using his/her best language skills try to make subtitles for that video and send to his/her friends or teacher.
“The most challenging work was on the studio where the user can write his/her own
subtitles for a movie. This website is one of the best and most challenging application I have created and I am proud that it won the BaKaForum 2010 award for best multimedia application.”
Narayan Krishna Shrestha - Senior programmer & system analyst
The system is built to handle several editors working in different languages and handling hundreds of videoclips with related tasks, subtitles etc. Therefore most of the work was spent creating an intuitive administrative interface for managing the videos.
Tech stuffs
Anaconda was built on Dot.Net 3.5 and SQL Server 2005. It utilizes WebSearch Yeti CMS for the content updating and a custom player for the video.
